Band members

Jonathan Joubert, lead guitarist and sole original member of Desondency, has established himself in the Louisiana underground as an extreme metal visionary. Taking influence from contemporary doom and black metal bands, his song structures reflect that of his peers as well as his purest of emotions. He and previous percussionist Christian Hale started the band around 1994. He has written a majority of all music and lyrics, as well.
Eighteen year-old Greg Travasos has proven himself compitent behind the drums, utilizing intimidating blast beats and rolls. Throughout his latter teen years he had wandered in and out of various metal bands including Union Of Aggression and Deep Sledge before working alongside of Jonathan Joubert in 1997. Though his drumming influences include Gene Hoglan, Mike Smith, and Dave Lombardo as well as bands such as Suffocation, Death, Cynic, Morbid Angel, and various grind core, he is also fluent in guitar, bass, piano, flute, and violin.
Bass-extraordinaire and chaotist/occultist Jesse Domingue has been playing the four-string for a decade now. His evil bottom-edge sound has established him as one of the more reputable musicians locally, known for his work with several Lafayette bands including Sanguinary. He draws influences mainly from the old-school metal sound: namely Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Geezer Butler, and Alex Webster, but his style remains completely unique.
Jeremy Whitman, freelance author and critic in the Satanic and extreme metal underground, joined the group as a way to contribute his stylings to the metal underground. Though his vocals stray within the typical death and black metal range, his true love is in clean and melodic singing. He has also written for Eternal Frost webzine, Static 'zine, Spectres Of the Dark 'zine, and Hell Frost 'zine.
Garrette Sanislo, rhythm guitarist, is a newcomer to the genre. Previously he has played with the black metal based Quietus and death metal band Souls In Purgatory. The latter outfit disbanded recently due to a quarrel between Sanislo and S.I.P. vocalist Everick. At seventeen, Joubert had originally selected him for rhythm guitar in the doom/death band Dark Eden, but now he plays full-time for Despondency. His influences include Slayer, Sepultura, Danzig, and God Dethroned among others.
